1. When did you start racing and why?

Started racing in 2014. I used cycling as a training tool for racing dirt bikes in years prior, then was introduced to the cycling scene in Athens in 2013 and went from there.

2. What makes you love cycling so much?

My love for cycling is driven by the desire to fulfill my competitive spirit. It keeps me in good shape, both mentally and physically. Also most of the people you meet are great people to be around and that helps keep it fun.

3. What different cycling disciplines do you participate?  Race or recreation?

I love racing. Steven McQueen’s line in the movie LeMans pretty much sums it up, “When you’re racing, it’s life. Anything that comes before or after is just waiting.”

4. What do you take in your jersey on long rides?

Phone, ID, a little cash, and a snack (usually cookies).

5. What piece of your cycling gear (clothing, wheels, anything) is your favorite?

Don’t really have a favorite. I think all gear in cycling is important. It’s all about stacking pennies when racing. I think a good set of wheels makes the biggest difference.

6. Which pro cyclist will you cheer for in the pro peloton?

I like Primoz Roglic. I like his story and his willingness to attack to try to gain time.

7. Which pro cyclist do you think your style is most like?

I feel I’m most like a sprinter, not afraid of some argy-bargy so maybe Mark Cavendish?

8. What do you eat after a long ride or race?

There isn’t really anything specific I crave after a long ride or race. I will eat just about anything if I’m hungry enough!

9. What is your favorite race memory, what race was it and why do you remember it?

2016 Franklinton Crit Cat 3 State Championship. It was the hardest I’ve ever raced to get 2nd place. There was another team that used team tactics perfectly and made me chase down almost every break. The final attack they sent their sprinter and now teammate Shawn Aker off the front and I knew I was in trouble! I dug as deep as I could, but had too much work in the legs to get the win. Even though I ended up 2nd and was on the wrong end of the team tactics, it was really cool to see them work so well together!

10. What advice do you give to your team member or a new team member?

I like the golden rule. Just treat others how you like to be treated. I think some experienced cyclists take themselves a bit too serious and have that hardcore roadie mentality. Just remember we were all new to cycling at one point and to treat the rookies learning the ropes with respect, and help them learn the game.

11. What are your 2019 goals?

Definitely want to get back up on the podium, and notch a few more wins! Winning is the best feeling ever! I’ve also never had such a strong group of guys to work with/for, so I’m all about achieving the end goal of getting our jersey on that top step as well!

12. When you aren’t pedaling your bike what do you like to do?

Lately it’s just been work and hanging out with the family and the twins at home. They really like being outside and I don’t mind it one bit either!
